Verizon See Future Without Set Top Boxes

Verizon unveiled part of its future plans in a promotional video released recently. In it, the company announces that it will be using smaller, more energy efficient set top boxes in 2012, and will eliminate the set top box altogether at some future time. The new Media Server product coming out this later year for FiOS customers will let user stream content to all devices in the home, including iPhones and gaming consoles, and is rumored to be small enough to be hidden behind a television and fastened with a velcro strap. The Media Server is an IP-enabled gateway manufactured by Motorola.
