U-verse TV and DirecTV top J.D. Powers’ annual customer satisfaction survey of pay-TV subscribers. In most regions, Verizon’s FiOS TV, AT&T’s U-verse, DirecTV, and Dish Network came out ahead of competing heavyweights such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Cox Communications. Other interesting tidbits from the survey included DVR penetration jumping to 45% in 2011, up from 38% last year. Meanwhile, the average cost for a triple play subscription is $145.52, compared to $140.90 in 2010. Also, while telcos and satellite providers top cable and MSOs in customer satisfaction for TV services, cable MSOs beat their telco rivals in a survey of residential telephone subscribers.
