Bell Canada Submits Q4 2011 Results

Bell Canada was the latest telecom firm to announce results from its recently completed quarter. They reported net earnings attributable to common shareholders of $486 million, compared to $318 million in Q4 2010. Among the avalanche of numbers in BCE’s report, a few nuggets:

  • Revenue was up 12.8%, due to strong wireless and media demand, while their wireline business languished
  • Bell TV additions increased 20.4% as Fiber TV gained nearly 28,000 customers, spurred by expansion into the Montreal and Toronto markets
  • The TV subscriber base hit 2,087,596, a gain of 3.3% over 2010
  • High-speed Internet activations grew as well, inching up 0.7% to 2,112,752
