The U.S. and Asia (South Korea in particular) are the leading regions when it comes to voice over LTE. This according to Infonetics Research’s latest report, “Mobile VoIP Services and Subscribers,” which tracks native mobile VoIP (also called Voice over Long Term Evolution, or VoLTE), as well as OTT mVoIP service revenues, subscribers, and deployments. Verizon, MetroPCS, SK Telecom, and LG U+ are all planning to get into the VoLTE game this year. Yet, with all this activity, VoLTE is forecast to make up only 14% of global mobile VoIP revenue by 2016.
